Portable Appliance Testing

Portable Appliance Testing is a series of tests to ensure the safety of all who use these appliances. It is a series of in-service tests that repeat the manufacturers’ safety tests.

These tests are conducted on-site using a microprocessor controlled test instrument and the results downloaded to a computer and stored, after which a detailed report is issued to the customer. A portable appliance is any item which can be disconnected from the electrical supply by means of a plug.

Geoghegan Electrical can carry out a detailed inspection of your portable appliances (eg. computers etc;) This will help you comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2007, Regulation 81, which deals with the requirements for portable equipment. Under this act employers have a duty of care to their staff and the general public, which states that equipment they use and come in contact with has been properly tested.
